ALL ABOUT ALPHA GAM
WHO WE ARE
Alpha Gamma Delta was officially founded on May 30th, 1904 at Syracuse University by 11 impactful women. The Gamma Alpha Chapter of Alpha Gam was brought to the University of Georgia in 1923 and is the third oldest sorority on campus. Our colors are red, buff, and green and our mascot is the squirrel. We are a group of women who strive to be “Loving, Leading, and Lasting.” Last year, we celebrated 100 years of our amazing Gamma Alpha sisterhood with 7 decades of alumni.
OUR PURPOSE
To gain understanding that wisdom may be vouchsafed to me.
To develop and prize health and vigor of body.
To cultivate acquaintance with many whom I meet.
To cherish friendships with but a chosen few and to study the perfecting of those friendships.
To welcome the opportunity of contributing to the world’s work in the community where I am placed because of the joy of service thereby bestowed and the talent of leadership multiplied.
To honor my home, my country, and my religious faith.
To hold truth inviolable, sincerity essential, and kindness invaluable.
To covet beauty in environment, manner, word, and thought.
To possess high ideals and obtain somewhat unto them.
This shall be my purpose that those who know me may esteem Alpha Gamma Delta for her attainments, revere her for her purposes, and love her for her womanhood.

In Alpha Gam I have never met a stranger, and have only been welcomed with open arms ever since I stepped foot into the house. The genuine nature of each and every girl is so evident as the girls of Alpha Gam have only showed me abundant kindness and love. Alpha Gam provides such a warm and accepting environment that ensures that all girls feel fully loved and celebrated. I am so lucky to be a part of this incredible sisterhood, and I’m so happy to say that Alpha Gam has already brought me many life-long friends! I can’t wait for my next three years as an Alpha Gam because it is truly my favorite place to be!!”
